Flora and fauna, mountain horizons, and marine elements combine with many interesting attractions, making Victoria a mecca for tourists. World class facilities such as the Royal British Columbia Museum, Butchart Gardens, and the Empress Hotel are loved by visitors and residents alike. The city is home for two universities, a community college, and numerous training centres for arts and technolgy. In addition, as the capital of the province, the city's skyline is dominated by the beautiful architecture of the legislature and public service buildings.

Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, Canada, is located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island on the Pacific Coast. With its temperate climate, Victoria is known as the "Garden City", with lush parks, gardens, and wild areas where evergreens and flowers flourish throughout the year. Average temperature in the winter months is 40 deg.F, and in summer 75 deg.F.
The area known as Victoria is a collection of districts and municipalities, including the municipalities of Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, Colwood, Langford, and Saanich. A short distance away are the closely allied communities of North Saanich, Central Saanich, Sooke, Metchosin, Sidney, and the Gulf Islands.

A few hours' drive will take you through the Cowichan Valley to the famous Pacific Rim National Park. Transportation to and from the Island is primarily by efficient and modern ferriy service, as well as by aircraft, helicopter, and float plane. On the island, highways are complemented by trains, buses, and small planes.
